Yummy Yomp in Gorgeous Goyt Valley

This ridiculously beautiful walk is also muddy-dog-friendly and won't fail to reward you with great views of the colourful Goyt valley scenery, come rain or shine. This walk complements yesterday’s walk “Bodacious Buxton to Whaley Bridge Bimble”. It affords completely different viewpoints of the Goyt Valley and Errwood Reservoir so you might want to try both. My pictures were all taken on a decidedly dull and misty day for example, but they are still variegated and stunning. Add a little sunshine (or snow) and there will be even more sweeping treats to feast your retina iPhone screens on.
Generally this walk is easy going with good flat sections but there are some grassy hills too over the moors to get your heart pumping. (380m of height gain). Walking boots will be needed as the ground is definitely wet, with some shallow muddy and boggy moorland bits to squelch your way through. We will be pausing for photos and a light lunch, so bring a camera and perhaps something dry to sit on, like a foam mat or waterproof overtrousers. Wear gators if you have them, but they are not essential.
The Duke pub, dog friendly. can also offer you an traditional Sunday roast with Buxton’s best gravy (£7.50 small or £10.95 large) which likely has my name on it. If you would like an earlyish Sunday dinner after the walk (around 4pm) then please let me know as I will book a table or two. Or you may just prefer a quick jar before you head home.
