I first did this walk on the August Bank Holiday in 2016. It was gloriously  sunny, and delightfully scenic, and it is somehow one of those parts of Snowdonia that are overlooked by the masses. I was struck by how tranquil the lake of Llyn Tecwyn Isaf was. The ascent then continued through some typically Welsh oak woodland and through some farmland and then into the foothills of the rugged Rhinogydd mountain range.

One of the highlights of the walk is Bryn Cader Faner, which some consider to be the most beautiful Bronze Age monument in Britain. Set within stunning scenery, with a diameter of around 8m, the cairn is enhanced by slim pillars jutting out at an angle like the rays of the sun. The ascent to this point follows the northernmost section of the Ardudwy way, a signposted upland pathway.

From here we can make our way and ascend up Moel Ygyfarnogod (623m). Hopefully we will have fine views over Llyn Trawsfynydd, and good views to the north where many of you can reminisce at past walks in some of the other peaks visible. The terrain here can be difficult, with rock, heather, and bog. Some scrambing is needed to continue on to Craig Ddrwg (596m). We will then descend and make our way back past Llyn Eiddew-mawr and Llyn Eiddew-bach towards Bryn Cader Faner and retrace our steps from there.
