Job Vacancy at OutdoorLads - Finance and Administration Assistant

OutdoorLads is currently recruiting a Finance & Administration Assistant

Purpose of Role: To ensure smooth running of the business-critical financial and administrative requirements of the charity, to high quality standards.

OutdoorLads is a UK-wide charity with the mission to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of gay, bi-sexual and trans men through participation in outdoor pursuits. We run over a thousand events across the UK each year for guys of all ages who are into doing exciting activities, getting an adrenaline rush and challenging themselves to learn new skills, meet new people and do stuff they never thought possible.

We are the biggest outdoor activity based charity for gay, bi and trans guys in the UK. Our activities include hill walking, mountaineering, climbing, camping, kayaking, biking, hostelling, and many others!

As the organisation grows, we now have an exciting opportunity to employ a part-time Finance and Administration Assistant, to support our existing staff team, trustees, and members.

This crucial role involves using our Xero financial package to keep control of our finances, making payments, preparing monthly financial reports for our trustees, and supporting the annual audit process. Tasks include document management, dealing with correspondence and enquiries from members and suppliers, keeping an inventory of assets and their locations, and taking high quality minutes at our board meetings and AGM.

The person we are looking for will have an excellent customer service manner, experience in using online accountancy software to maintain financial systems and produce reports, will be well organised, have an eye for detail, be flexible and able to work as part of a small team with little supervision on a day to day basis. They will have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to adapt and improve processes and react positively to change.

The role will be office-based in central Manchester and is a part-time role of 22.5 hours per week, with 20 days annual leave per year (rising by one day per year of service) and will require occasional travel and evening / weekend work to support our board meetings. Job share or flexible working arrangements will be considered.

Salary will be at OutdoorLads Band 2 (18-21 on the NJC scale), starting at £18,870 (Pro-rated £11,322) depending on competencies and experience. Appointees will normally start on the lowest band of the scale.
