Join an Outdoorlads evening with a difference, with a cause, marking a profound moment in history... as we mark #WW100, the centenary of the end of the First World War, with a 'culture crawl' in Cardiff that includes an exclusive tour of Wales' national memorial to the fallen, the Temple of Peace and Health.

On Nov 11 1918, the guns fell silent as an Armistice was called, to end 'the war that was to end war'. 40,000 Welsh men and women were among the 37 million worldwide who became 'the lost generation'. Their names are recorded in Wales' WW1 Book of Remembrance, a national treasure held in the crypt of the Temple of Peace, the very foundations of the building built to honour the fallen of the First World War. It's mission, from 1938 to today... to bring together the people of Wales to build a better world.

This 'culture crawl' will be no sombre wake though: we will be exploring the hidden histories of those who, over the last 100 years, have inspired communities, campaigns, equality and peace movements that have shaped our world. You will learn stories you've never heard before, as we follow the newly launched 'City of Cardiff Peace Trail:

  • Temple of Peace and Health
  • The Crypt holding the WW1 Book of Remembrance
  • Wales National Garden of Peace
  • The Cenotaph in Alexandra Gardens
  • Cardiff Civic Centre, including Cardiff University, City Hall and the National Museum of Wales
  • The 'Peace Battle' of Cory Hall
  • The Tabernacle and Old Library in the Hayes
  • ...The Pub

We will finish with a few drinks - and hopefully some food! - together in a hostelry of walkers' choice in Cardiff city centre :-)
