Twilight Ascent: The Glow-Worm Hunt

Glow Worm Adventure 

Kick things off properly with a relaxed muster at The BeerEngine in Southwick — time to fuel the expedition with a well-earned pint of craft ale or a quality gin before we set out. This is your chance to gather the team, check the kit, and raise a glass before trading bar lights for twilight skies.

Once fortified, we head out and climb toward Southwick Hill Nature Reserve, leaving the streets behind as the landscape opens into rolling downland and big evening views. The route builds atmosphere as daylight fades, with skylarks overhead and the first stars beginning to show.

Our mission: a dusk glow-worm hunt. As darkness settles, we’ll slow the pace and scan the grassland banks and paths for tiny green living lanterns — one of the Downs’ most magical nighttime sights. Expect quiet moments, sharp eyes, and that buzz of discovery when the first glow appears.

A sociable start, a steady uphill adventure, and a wild finish under the night sky. Perfect for explorers who like their walks with both good spirits and natural wonders.

The route is a 5 mile circular walk with 140 metres in gradual elevation.
