Tough Mudder has become one of the biggest obstacle course run series in the world over the last few years, with millions raised for good causes by participants, and this is your chance to take part. The Yorkshire event is one of the hilliest of the UK Tough Mudder courses, so get ready to get wet and muddy whilst feeling the burn.
We'll be completing the Classic course of approximately 8-10 miles and 25 obstacles, joining the Pride Wave alongside many other LGBT+ participants, working as a team to get over/through the obstacles and ensure everyone finishes together. It is tremendous fun, so if you've heard about Tough Mudder and wondered what all the hype is about, come and give it a go. It's a great sense of achievement when you cross that finish line, getting your hands on that finisher's tshirt and headband, plus a free beer.
To book, please click on the link below and book via the ToughMudder site, select the Tough Mudder Classic Participant option, on the next page you will be prompted to create an http://www.active.com account, or log onto an existing one, so you can complete your order. Once you've completed your booking, go to your Active account at https://myevents.active.com/ and join the 'Pride Wave' team - password 'lovewins' which are both case sensitive. If we all join the team, then we will get the same start time allocated. The start time given on this event page is approximate as it will depend on which start wave we are allocated to, but the Pride Wave are planning on a 10.00am start, start times are usually sent out about 2 weeks before the event. It will take approximately 3 to 4 hours to complete the course. You can also announce that you are going via the Muddy with Pride Facebook event page
Want to take part for free?
If you fancy taking part for free, or for a reduced price, why not volunteer over the weekend? You will need to pay for the event in advance when you book, but if you volunteer to support the event on the Saturday you can claim a reimbursement. I will be volunteering out on the course for the day (other roles are available), it's a great laugh, you can have loads of banter with the participants and you're likely to get muddy. A full day shift gives you full reimbursement of entry fees, a half day shift gives you 80% reimbursement. Follow the below link to the volunteer site and sign up.
Other benefits of volunteering include:
Free camping onsite for the weekend, which includes free hot showers (normally £29)
Free parking onsite for the weekend
Free food and drink throughout your volunteer shift
Branded volunteer tshirt and cap for wearing during your shift (which you get to keep)
A chance to make new friends and find out more of what Tough Mudder is about
What to bring
It is advisable to wear old sports kit, including trainers with a good grip, as it will get very muddy and you may just want to throw it in the bin at the end. It is not advisable to wear a cotton tshirt or shorts, as these are slow to dry and will sap body heat.
If you are camping, please bring suitable warm clothing for the evening. Barbecues and firepits are allowed in the designated area only.
Food & drink
Water, energy drinks and high energy snacks are provided on the course. There are a couple of food stands within the mudder village which are open during the day if you need anything more to eat.
If you are camping over then you will need to bring any other food supplies that you need for the weekend (please note, you are allowed to bring your own alcohol into the camping area, but it must NOT be in a glass container).
