This is a nice walk through Kent countryside based on parts of two recreational trails, the Wealdway and then the Tunbridge Wells circular walk. Starting in the town centre, we make our way through the grounds of Tonbridge Castle before entering the Haysden Country Park. Crossing under the A21 trunk road, there is then a gradual climb to the Bidborough Ridge road, from which we should hopefully get splendid views to north and south.
After that we descend to Southborough Common and the rather quaintly named Modest Corner, touching on Stockland Green and then on into Rusthall to view the extraordinary Toad Rock and the spectacular outcrops of Bull's Hollow.
Tunbridge Wells Commons are just beyond this, after which we will enter the lovely Pantiles area of Tunbridge Wells for a drink before making our way up the old High Street to the station.
What to bring
Please be prepared for whatever weather you think we might expect. The ridge at Bidborough is quite exposed. You will need good walking boots. Layers are good so you can take them off or put them back on again as the day progresses. Trainers will not do.
Food & drink
Please bring a packed lunch and water etc. to sustain you through the day. There are shops close to the start point.
