Starting from Pangbourne, this circular walk takes in the delightful village of Whitchurch and some fine beech woodland on the edge of the Chilterns before descending back into the Thames Valley.

This is a good day's walking and will start from the car park at Pangbourne Railway Station and cross the Thames at Whitchurch via the superb Victorian iron tollbridge.

After the initial climb out of the valley the route is across fields, through beech woodland and along quiet country lanes. There may be time for a short detour to visit the delightful Thamesside village of Mapledurham (where incidentally, many of the sequences for The Eagle has Landed were filmed).

We then take a popular path back to Whitchurch, with fine views across open countryside and the Thames Valley.
