This event is a sub-event of the Peak District Multi-Activity Hostel Weekend - click the link for more details!

Join us for a full day of outdoor climbing (both trad & bouldering) at Harborough in the Peak District - a fantastic and easily accessible crag a short drive (Just 7 mins!) from the Hostel for which this event is a child event for. If you're coming to join us but not at the Hostel event, the crag is 1.5 KM North-East of Brassington Village, just south of the Peak District National Park.

Harborough Rocks offers Trad & Bouldering climbs on Limestone on highly featured butresses Lots of cracks, grooves, ribs and aretes of good quality rock; and has generous offerings particularly at lower grades. It is south facing so we could have the sun throughout the day. The approach from car parking is only around 5 minutes.

To join us for this event you must have some fairly recent indoor climbing experience, ideally with OutdoorLads, and be able to put on a harness and tie yourself onto the rope safely.  If you don't have any recent climbing experience why not try out a few of your local ODL indoor climbing events where you’ll be shown everything you need to know to get you comfortable and climbing confidently?

You may also wish to join our outdoor climbing facebook group to keep in touch with other outdoor climbers in ODL and be notified about new outdoor climbing events as they go online!

Please note that priority for booking is given to those on the Peak District Multi Activity Hostel Weekend until 1 March 2019.  So, unless you are booked onto the hostel event, please do not sign up for this climbing this until after that date. If you do, those that are on the hostel event will be prioritised and moved up any waiting list onto the main attendance list.

Participation statement

As a BMC Affiliate member, OutdoorLads draws your attention to the fact that climbing is an activity with a danger of personal injury or death. You should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for your own actions and involvement.

Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur climbers with some experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge.  Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.

Members should also understand that rock climbing is weather dependant – more so than some other outdoor activities (not least as it can be dangerous to climb on wet rock). Whilst we will do everything reasonably possible to run the event as described, the event leader may need to change the location and/or other event details to best suit the anticipated weather. We will advise members booked on, or interested, in the event of this as soon as is practical, but you should understood that in certain circumstances it may be necessary to move the event to an indoor climbing centre, or cancel the event all together.
