A 110km cycle with approx 500m of climbing.

The second of three road rides around Norfolk over the Easter bank holiday weekend in 2021.  There will be rides on the Friday, Sunday and a short one on the Monday.  The plan is to chill on the Saturday (3rd April), it's a holiday after all.  Depending on the weather, we might go to the beach, go cruising on the broads or even a cycle.

The Sunday ride is a 100km circular road cycle through history, taking in another selection of Norfolk's tourist sights.  You can view the route here (don't pay any subscriptions, if you need a GPX file contact the leader).  We past the following locations;

  • Blakeney Guild Hall - English Heritage.  Free to look at as we find a cup of tea and a sea view.
  • Langham Dome - part of former RAF Langham, the dome trainer building was used for the instruction of ground-to-air anti-aircraft gunnery and is one of only six remaining training domes in the country, built in 1942.
  • Creake Abbey - flint-walled ruins of an Augustinian abbey.  English Heritage and free to visit.
  • Binham Priory - the most complete and impressive monastic ruins in Norfolk.  English Heritage and also free entry.
  • Bacconsthorpe Castle - a moated and fortified 15th century manor house, yep it's English Heritage and free to look at.

Norfolk is less hilly then the Peaks or the Lakes, yet I've still managed to find some hills, we climb 700m during the day.  If you aren't too sure if this ride is suitable for you, send the leader a message.  Please note leaders aren't alerted to messages at the bottom of this event page, best to send them a direct message if you have any queries.

Will, your leader will be staying at Manor Farm Caravan & Camping Site just outside Cromer.  If staying here, please don't mention you are part of a group, single-sex groups get mistaken for stag parties.  Plenty of alternative accommodation available in the surrounding area if you fancy a little luxury.
