A 110km cycle with approx 500m of climbing.

The first of three road rides around Norfolk over the Easter bank holiday weekend in 2021.  There will be rides on the Friday, Sunday and a short one on the Monday.  The plan is to chill on the Saturday (3rd April), it's a holiday after all.  Depending on the weather, we might go to the beach, go cruising on the broads or even a cycle.

The Friday ride is a 110km circular road cycle, taking in many of Norfolk's tourist sights.  You can view the route here (don't pay any subscriptions, if you need a GPX file contact the leader).  We past the following locations;

  • Cromer Pier - Grade II listed pier where we will hopefully find a cup of tea and either some candy floss or cinder toffee (who am I kidding, I'm having both!).
  • Blickling Estate - National Trust Jacobean mansion in the beautiful Bure meadows.  Those not wanting to visit can sit in the pub opposite.
  • Bure Valley Railway - Bure Valley Path runs for 9 miles along the side of the heritage railway.  If we fancy a break we will jump on a train.  Expect Will being very excited and making choo choo noises.
  • Horsey Windpump - an iconic Norfolk Broads landmark owned by the National Trust.

I was under the impression Norfolk is flat, though we still manage to climb ~680m during the day, which I suppose compared to most of my rides, isn't that bad.  If you aren't too sure if this ride is suitable for you, send the leader a message.  Please note leaders aren't alerted to messages at the bottom of this event page, best to send them a direct message if you have any queries.

Bring your National Trust membership card if you have one and your budgie smugglers if you fancy a dip in the North Sea.

Will, your leader will be staying at Manor Farm Caravan & Camping Site just outside Cromer.  If staying here, please don't mention you are part of a group, single-sex groups get mistaken for stag parties.  Plenty of alternative accommodation available in the surrounding area if you fancy a little luxury.
