The Nine Ladies and Robin Hood's Stride

Starting in the historic village of Winster, we will take a picturesque stroll across the valley and a short climb onto Stanton Moor. The walk around its edge gives good views of the woodland and valley below.

We pass a tower to celebrate the passing of the Reform Act before we come to the prehistoric stone circle, the Nine Ladies. We take a track over the moor where there are numbers of cairns and standing stones concealed in the heather. Pastures take us to the unusual rocky outcrop known as Robin Hood's Stride. From here country lanes and tracks bring us back to Winster and a chance for post-walk rehydration at the Miner's Standard (if we are lucky).

• Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are extremely mild, or who lives or is in a support bubble with someone showing symptoms, is asked not to attend. This is in line with the government’s coronavirus advice.
• You must also immediately self-isolate and not attend the event if you or someone in your household or support bubble shows coronavirus symptoms or tests positive. Read the NHS self-isolation guidance.
