Distance is 13 km (8 miles); total climb is 120 m (395 feet); terrain has some inclines; surfaces are gravel, grass and tarmac.

Take a stroll upto and around the grounds of the ancestral home of Lord Byron, an internationally known character from the 19th century, who had a passion for both ladies and men.  He was a bi-sexual and his love affairs are legendary.  If he was around today, this poet would have probably been a rock star.

Walking around the grounds of Newstead Abbey your imagination may see you transported onto the film set of Bridgeton, promenading around the beautiful lake and gardens.  It's then perhaps not hard to envision what fun Lord Byron might have got upto in this ancient picturesque setting.

At the walks mid-point there will be an opportunity for an extended break at the Abbey itself, you may split off and explore the house and gardens on your own or in pairs / groups or join me for a short lunch break and route round the gardens.

This walk is easily reached via public transport, so please do take the opportunity to leave your car at home, if you don't drive this is a great one where no lift needs to be pre-arranged.  There will be a chance to get an alcoholic beverage later on the walk.

Also should you like to arrive early why not whack some golf balls into the Driving Range with me.  Click the link - Swingers, Go Long - Golf Driving Range | OutdoorLads

Unfortunately, this is not a dog-friendly walk.
