Mountain Biking at Bike Park Wales
6 people attending
2 places left
There will be a contingent of Penpont attendees going to Bike Park Wales on Saturday 5th May (30 min drive from Penpont).
This is a downhill mountain biking park and can be quite full on. We will be taking the blue runs which are classed as intermediate and are ok for beginners who are fit and strong, can ride a bike confidently and up for having a go even if this is your first time at downhill mountain biking. There are also full on red and black runs which are there for the more experienced riders.
If you want to come mountain biking and don’t have a suitable bike you can hire one which must be booked in advance. You must have a mountain bike with suspension for this bike park and a helmet is essential (you are not allowed in the park without one).
You can hire from Bike park wales or collect a bike from Bikes and Hikes in Brecon which is significantly cheaper - £25 rather than £45+ at Bike Park Wales. This does however mean you will need to transport it to the bike park and they are slightly less fancy than the ones from Bike Park Wales.

What to bring
A helmet is essential and you will not be allowed to ride the centre without one. If you don't own one, it is possible to hire one from the venue, but it is worth booking in advance along with any bike hire you might need.
Comfortable clothing will be required and it would be wise to pack a waterproof.
Please ensure you have some water with you as the climb is quite long and thirsty work!
If you have them, any bike tools (multi tool), pump or innertubes will also be useful in case a repair is necessary. There is a bike shop on site if anything more serious happens.
Food & drink
It's worth having a backpack with some water and snacks in. You are welcome to bring your own food, however, there is a very decent cafe on site that does a wide range of food and drinks.
