Midweek Day Walk - England's Highest Waterfall & The Calf - Yorkshire Dales

Relatively short walk but pretty steep to start but we’ll be in no rush. The waterfall around half way round which we can have lunch at. Starting and ending at the Cross Keys Inn which we can have a drink in once back if people like.
Long, broad ridges and steep flanks characterise the impressive mass of the Howgill Fells and present a stiff climb to the tops on almost every approach. In a handful of places, the scenery becomes truly awesome, such as that surrounding Cautley Crag, a massive amphitheatre of sheer cliffs that rise above a deep apron of scree.
At its northern end is Cautley Spout, which at 210m is the tallest cascade waterfall in England and a particularly magnificent sight after heavy rain. The walk continues beyond onto The Calf, the highest point of these hills and a splendid viewpoint from which to appreciate this complex landscape.
