Join Ian on this spectacular walk from Over Haddon.

The walk starts at Over Haddon, from here the walk takes us out over open pasture and skirts the slopes of Bole Hill before we descend into Kirk Dale.

We progress onwards to Magpie Mine. The mine is one of the most famous lead mines in the Peak District. The workings date from 1740 by 1824 a pumping engine used to keep the mine free from water, which helped the miners extract a record amount of lead (800 tons) from the mine. A record that stood until 1871.

After exploring the mine we’ll continue on towards the Village of Monyash, where we’ll have a rest stop/refreshments.

From Monyash we head through Lathkill Dale, once a coral reef 350m years ago, passing old mine workings along the river back to Over Haddon.

Optional pub stop at the end of the walk.
