Come and join OutdoorLads for some bouldering with a twist!
Come and join us at HarroWall for an evening of bouldering with a Harroween theme. Apart from bouldering, there will also be the clip-and-climb, the Death slide, and the very special 'cave of horrors' (the largest indoor caving system in Europe - usually only open to groups) and all this for only a £7 entrance fee for those in fancy dress. There is more information on the Harrowall facebook page
This event is for members of all levels of experience and all are welcome to come along to any of the sessions. You don’t have to wear fancy dress to join us, but at least some of us will be looking even more horrifying than usual...
Do I need a guided session?
If you have never tried bouldering before it is recommended that you have a guided session from the event leader, who will go through everything you will need to know to boulder safely before joining in with the rest of the group.
Participation Statement
Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur climbers with some experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge. Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.
All those attending the event must also be aware of the centre's own terms and conditions of participation and abide by them, along with any instructions given by the centre’s staff. Everyone must also take responsibility for their own safety while participating in Indoor climbing events.
What to bring
You don't need much equipment for bouldering at all. The only specialist kit you will need are rock climbing shoes which can be hired from the centre if you haven't got your own. Kit hire prices can be found at www.harrowall.co.uk/prices/
There are cubby holes for your bags and optional secure lockers for valuables which require you to bring your own padlock.
What to Wear
We usually advise people to wear either shorts, combats or tracksuit bottoms with a t-shirt or vest. No jeans or any form of trouser which hampers movement. However, for one night only, we are encouraging people to wear fancy dress! When choosing fancy dress though, do think practically about what might impede your climbing (outfits that rely heavily on gloves might not be your best bet...)
Any jewellery such as rings, watches, chains or bangles should be removed before beginning the session to prevent injury.
Food & drink
We don't have a planned break, but encourage everyone to take a rest for a snack and to rehydrate during the session. There is a cafe area at the centre where hot and cold drinks along with snacks can be purchased. Water fountains are available to refill your water bottles.
We will likely hang around in the cafe afterwards where our Saturday Favourites from The Duchy will be serving refreshments.
