Day 1 (Friday 26th June) here: Lochinver 1: Watch the Summer Sunset over the Sea
Day 2 (Saturday 27th June) here: Lochinver 2: Quinaig
A challenging, out-and-back hike to the summit of Canisp. It's only 12km or 7.5 miles but it's across often pathless, boggy and stony ground making the going very slow at times. We will have 710 metres of ascent so we will be rewarded, with a bit of luck, with some very dramatic views from the summit. Iconic mountains such as Suilven and Stac Pollaidh dominate the sky-line, but the vastness of the landscape of Assynt can take your breath away. There are lots of mountains to see in the distance but unlike much of the Highlands where they're squashed in together, almost holding each other up, these rise individually and dramatically from a boggy flat landscape which is one of the richest carbon deposits in Europe.
Canisp is a Corbett, which is a classification of mountain between 2,500 and 2,999 feet. The summit is 847m high (2779 feet).
