Distance is 17.6 km (11 miles); total ascent is 181 metres; terrain is tarmac, dirt, grass and woodland paths.

A circular hike in the Horsham area. We'll enjoy good views of the surrounding countryside and a big dose of history. There are a few ups and downs but nothing too painful. A good mix of woodland paths, grassland and quiet tarmac roads.

We'll leave Littlehaven station and slowly work our way towards Rusper village. On the way we'll enjoy a varied Sussex landscape taking in farmland, woodland and rolling green fields. One highlight will be passing the site of the former Priory for the Benedictine nuns. The Priory has long since gone but the vast site now contains buildings known as the Nunnery. Lunch will be in Rusper where we can enjoy an in depth look at the history of the village. It really is one of those places where every where you look that is a story to learn.

Following lunch we'll take a walk back to Littlehaven on a different route to our approach. Again, this will offer more lovely views, interesting landscapes and varied terrain. As we get nearer to the end there will be a well earned pub stop at The Frog and Nightgown. As with much of the walk this pub has an interesting history. It was originally only able to accommodate 10 people before changes took place merging two cottages and extending the bar area. Just before we arrive back at our start point there is a chance to take in another interesting church and its history.

Dogs:

I love having dogs on my walks. I just ask that owners please ensure they are kept on a lead as appropriate, especially around livestock and when near busy roads. Please, also remember that not everyone is a dog lover.

Don’t Waste That Space!

Walks get filled up quite quickly, so please only sign up if you know you are free to attend. Plans do sometimes change, but remember to free up your space so someone else can attend.

New Members:

If this is your first event or you are new to OutdoorLads we’d love to see you. Please message me if you have any questions.
