OutdoorLads Strategy Review: Inclusion and diversity; have your say!

OutdoorLads is in the process of reviewing our strategy and we need your help. With this in mind, some listening sessions have already taken place.

We are now keen to hear from members who see themselves as having a barrier that prevents or makes partaking in ODL events more difficult, We are not going to limit what that means. However, it would certainly include Physical disabilities and Neuro divergence. Again, this list is not meant to be exhaustive.

Joey and Gavin will be hosting a listening session for members with the aim to begin to build a strategy to help make OutdoorLads a more inclusive group.  The output will be presented to the board and will help them formulate the future direction of the charity.

So, what is a listening session? Our desire is to facilitate discussion, aimed at collecting information about the participants’ experiences. Participants in this listening session will be asked to contribute their experiences about specific questions on the topic.
During the session, we will ask you several pre-set questions and then open the floor for any further comments or suggestions you may want to make. Before your session, please spend some time thinking about OutdoorLads' future vision, our values, our priorities and the outcomes you would like to see over the next 5 years. If at the end of this session you feel like you want to contribute more please consider joining our Equality and Diversity subgroup where we shall meet regularly to help build these strategies.

To get the most out of your session 1) please come prepared, 2) please be willing to listen, 3) please be respectful of other peoples’ opinions (even if you don’t agree) 4) don’t expect your group to agree on anything specific or reach any conclusions and 5) please be mindful that the listening session aims to begin to move OutdoorLads down the path to making it a better organisation for everyone. This is very much an area we are inexperienced with but we are committed to learning and improving.

We want to hear as many diverse voices as possible. So, please consider taking part.
