Leisurely Canal Walk (Stanley Ferry, Wakefield)
15 people attending
5 places left
This is an 8 mile walk (approx) taking in part of the Aire and Calder Navigation as well as paths, local woods and fields around Wakefield.
The walk is fairly steady as it is pretty flat all the way around. We will look to stop for lunch (please bring this with you) and we will plan to stop for a drink at a lovely pub part way around (if the weather is favourable).
Please bring lunch / snacks with you.
Stanley Ferry is a popular mooring site located on the Aire & Calder Navigation in West Yorshire. It was here that the famous Tom Pudding tub boats were once loaded with coal before setting off in long trains along the canal to Goole.
