Lake District Activity Week 2026 - Camping
21 people attending
19 places left
Tuesday 30 June to Sunday 5 July 2026
Join us for five nights in the Lake District, based at a campsite in a spectacular setting with quick access to classic fell days and big scenery in every direction. Expect a proper outdoors focused week, good company, and plenty of time on the hills.
Leaders will write their events on a whiteboard during the week, usually the evening before so you'll be able to see meeting times, location and type of event that way (example in the pictures). Leaders will decide from day to day and this laid-back approach isn't always a match for members who like to have their week super planned out.
This isn't an event for the partygoers but in the evenings people will go to the local pubs or sit around in the centre of the field socialising.

The location and what is nearby
We are right in the heart of some of the best known Lake District scenery, with big mountain days close by and plenty of brilliant lower level options too. Nearby highlights include the Langdale Pikes, Bowfell, Lingmoor Fell, Loughrigg Fell, and the views around Blea Tarn.
About the week
OutdoorLads events are led by volunteers, so the range of activities will depend on the leaders attending and what they are able to lead. The week will be mostly based around hill walking and mountain days. If we have leaders with the right experience, there may also be opportunities for other activities during the week, but these cannot be guaranteed.
Parking and lifts
Car parking is very limited at the site, so please arrange to car share where practical.
When you arrive, please park in the group field car park or around the edge of the campsite as directed. Please do not park on the sides of the access road.
You can use the comments section to offer and ask for lifts, or use the chat group which will be set up closer to the event date.
Dogs
Well behaved dogs are welcome. Dogs must remain on a lead on site and you will need to clean up after them. Dogs listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 are not permitted at National Trust campsites.

What to bring
Recommended Kit List
In addition to what you need for the daytime activities, some reminders for what you'll need for camping:
Tent: make sure you know how to pitch it, even in bad weather or in the dark. Check you have all the poles, ropes and pegs. A 3 season tent is the minimum recommended level of protection.
Sleeping bag: one that provides adequate warmth, designed to go below the temperature that you expect
Sleeping mat: will keep you warmer and dryer
Waterproof bags: for spare, dry clothing
Food: search online for camping food that’s easy to cook and filling
Hot drinks: at least in cold weather
Cooking Equipment: check you have fuel and know how yours works
Eating equipment: mug, bowl or plate and cutlery
Washing up equipment: detergent, brush/scourer and tea towel
Wash kit: remember to include a towel, shower gel and shampoo
Torch: or easier still, a head torch
Food & drink
There are three pubs within walking distance, all serving food. If you are happy to drive a short way, there are more places to eat nearby, and you can also head into Ambleside and the surrounding villages for plenty of choice.
For supplies, there is a Co-op around a 10-15 minute drive away, with Ambleside further afield for a bigger stock up if needed. The campsite also has a shop with the basics, plus morning tea and coffee and breakfast rolls.
The campsite has good facilities including toilets and showers, with accessible options available.
