Hebden Bridge Pennine Weekender

We will be leading two short but hilly rides over the course of this weekend, taking in some of the best roads to be found in the Pennines. The Sunday ride will be published soon, please check back. Local accomodation options include the independent hostel in Hebden Bridge, YHA Mankinholes and a variety of hotels and B&Bs.

Join us on this ride taking on the longest continuous gradient in England, Cragg Vale. Starting from the lovely Hebden Bridge we'll head up the the infamous Cragg Vale - which is not as hard as it sounds, then we'll cross the Pennines descending to Littleborough, then back across the majestic moors towards Ripponden.

Pace and Terrain

Mostly on road, with a healthy dose of climbing. Short section of well surfaced off road along the Rochdale Canal towpath.

The event pace and route is designed for road bikes rather than hybrids and is aimed at those who are reasonably bike fit, however the day is intended to be an outing rather than an endurance test. We will stop for slower riders to catch up whilst going faster in between stops to allow them to develop their technique and fitness. Broadly, anyone who has recently cycled over 50 miles and who has tackled some steep hills without too much difficulty will be able to complete this ride.
