Join OutdoorLads in the summer of 2021 to hike the best bits of this classic European trek for just £1750. This is a high level traverse of the Alps from the historic alpine town of Chamonix to the picture perfect town of Zermatt. The route is beautifully remote passing below spectacular glaciers and ice capped peaks of the High Alps. It meanders through green alpine pastures and flower meadows in France and Switzerland over 8-days of trekking.
This is an iconic trip and rated as one of the top ten walks in the World due the impressive scenery and beautiful landscapes you will be travelling through. This trek is accessible to anybody who regularly walks in the mountainous areas of the UK. It is manageable for fit walkers who are prepared to walk 6-9hrs a day. It is an alpine walk and therefore does not spend any time climbing or on glaciers but there are some sections involving steep and rocky ground. There are also some sections involving the use of fixed ladders on the Pas de Chèvre.
Our trip organizer (and OutdoorLads Member) Nick Read, is a qualified and experienced International Mountain Leader and expedition guide who has been working regularly as a walking guide in France and Switzerland. It is being run through his company Pride Expeditions. This event takes the best bits of a classic walk that can vary greatly in length and difficulty. It is a challenging event but a once in a lifetime experience that only takes ten days to complete. The Haute Route ran in the Summer of 2020 with limited numbers due to Covid so it is being offered a second time to give those who missed out another opportunity to take part.
The price for this amazing trek is just £1750. That includes all accommodation during the trip, all buses, minibuses and cable cars we will use during the trek and all evening meals and breakfasts during the trek. You will need to pay for lunches during the trek and evening meals at the start and finish of the trek.
During this trek we will be staying in mountain refuges where an evening meal and breakfast is included and bedding is provided. Each day will provide dramatic mountain scenery as we cross high alpine meadows and trek over passes the highest of which is almost 3,000m.
