Glasgow Indoor Climbing - All Abilities Welcome
5 people attending
3 places left
After an absence of regular indoor climbing events in Glasgow, we're pleased to announce that they're happening again on a trial basis during September 2017 with a view (if well supported) to making them a regular weekly fixture in the events calendar!
Indoor climbing centres offer the challenges of climbing that you'll find on natural outdoor structures; simply indoors. It's a fun way to stay fit, you will quickly begin to develop arm, back, finger, and core strength as a result of the many reaches and holds that are repeated through the completion of the climb.
The Glasgow Climbing Centre is based in an old church in Ibrox. To come along, you will need to register via the event page, and to climb you will need to pay an entry fee directly to the centre when you arrive. See their website for a list of prices.
It is important that all members sign up through the event page to make sure the event leader has all information of the members attending.
What to bring
If you have your own climbing gear i.e. harness, shoes, chalk-bag, Belay plate and screw-gate karabiner, climbing rope, you can bring this along, but please make sure it is in good condition.
As a minimum you will need the use of a climbing harness and a belay device (belay plate and a screw-gate karabiner, or a gri-gri if you have one). If you do not have your own, you will be able to hire what you need directly from the centre (click herefor prices).
There are changing rooms and lockers at the centre where your belongings can be stored.
What to Wear
It is best to wear either shorts, combats or tracksuit bottoms. No jeans or any form of trouser which hampers movement. A t-shirt or vest is also suitable.
Any jewellery such as rings, watches, chains or bangles should be removed before beginning the session to prevent injury.
Food & drink
There is a café in the balcony area of the climbing centre where we can break for food if required during the evening.
