Good walk on Saturday but not too strenuous.

Aloha kākou. Get a little more out of the year on this evocative Hawaiian event - a little bit closer to home. You will arrive at the tropical themed Ilam bunkhouse overlooking a 'paradise*' reef shaded by 'coconut palm*' trees which will be your relaxation resort for the weekend.

* [a little imagination may be required]

Ilam Park is a 158-acre country park on both banks of the Manifold River five miles north west of Ashbourne. The property is managed and owned by the National Trust.

Many of the rocks in Dovedale used to be parts of active coral reefs. Flowing water aided by rain and wind has eaten away the softer limestone. In some places caverns or arches have been formed, in others where the harder rock has offered more resistance to erosion, huge crags or pinnacles have been left projecting from the sides of the valley.

We will be exploring the area during a full day's walk, and together with it's spectacular scenery and on Saturday night you can wear an Aloha Hawaiian shirt and join in with some Hawaiian party fun!

WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN?

Friday night: Buffet tea, welcome meeting and evening activity.
Saturday daytime: We'll head out to explore Dovedale on a day's hike. Full details will be given on Friday evening.
Saturday night: Relax, socialise & chill out in Hawaiian style. Don't forget your Aloha Shirt. Dinner is included in the event price and we will be having a cheeky cocktail together with specially themed entertainment to make you feel like you're on an island vacation in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean.
Sunday daytime: You are either free to go home or join in a shorter, more leisurely walk or other activity in the local area.
