KIngsbarns to St Andrews
This is one of six planned walks over sections of the beautiful Fife Coastal Path
Our final walk in this series of six walks starts in the small of village of Kingsbarns. We set off from outside the church and head down a road to the coast. The route takes us along the coast before we head inland through a wooded area and cross a bridge over the Kenly Water before arriving at Boarhills.
We then head back to the coast and follow the route to the impressive Buddo Rock. Once back at the coast the path follows close to the shore at some points and there are some muddy, steep and rocky sections before walking on easier paths and arriving at the East Sands in St Andrews and on into the centre of the town and the bus station where we can catch buses for onward travel.
The planned walks over sections of the Fife Coastal Path are as follows:
- North Queensferry to Burntisland - 12 miles/19 km - Saturday 17th July 2021
- Burntisland to East Weymss - 12 miles/19 km - Saturday 21st August 2021
- East Weymss to Lower Largo - 7 miles/11 km - Saturday 28th August 2021
- Lower Largo to Anstruther - 12 miles/19 km - Saturday 11th September 2021
- Anstruther to Kingsbarns - 10 miles/16 km - Saturday 9th October 2021
- Kingsbarns to St Andrews - 9 miles/14 km - Saturday 23rd October 2021
KIngsbarns - Bus service 95 (Leven - St Andrews) stops in KIngsbarns. Off street car parking is available but limited. Please allow time to find a parking space.
St Andrews - Bus service 95 stops in Kingsbarns for return to collect cars or for onward travel to Leven. Service X60 departs St Andrews for Edinburgh including stops at Leven and Kirkcaldy.

COVID-19 – IMPORTANT, Please read the following before you sign up to this event:
- Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are extremely mild, or who lives or is in a support bubble with someone showing symptoms, is asked not to attend. This is in line with the government’s coronavirus advice.
- You must also immediately self-isolate and not attend the event if you or someone in your household or support bubble shows coronavirus symptoms or tests positive. Read the NHS self-isolation guidance.

What to bring
Hand sanitiser and a face covering: whilst we are living with Covid-19, please bring your own to events to help keep everyone safe
Water: bring at least two litres
Medicines: if you have hay fever, diabetes, minor ailments etc.
Day rucksack: typically 20-30 litres, they are comfortable to wear and allow you to use your arms freely
Boots: waterproof and breathable and designed for hiking, trainers are OK if the ground is dry and there’s little chance of rain
Gaiters: recommended for wet weather or boggy conditions
Socks: proper walking socks will keep your feet dry and help prevent blisters
Layered clothing: lets you quickly adapt to changes in the weather and body temperature. Go for a base layer (vest or t-shirt) and a mid layer (a micro fleece or shirt) and in cooler weather add an outer layer (a windproof jacket or thick fleece)
Trousers: ideally no jeans as they become heavy and cold in the rain, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry and on warm days shorts are OK
Waterproof jacket: essential when hiking in all but the calmest of weather, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry
Gloves: Windproof, or better still, waterproof gloves are the best choice, bring a spare pair if expecting rain
Hat or cap: stay warm in winter and shaded in summer
Sunglasses: for any sunny day, even in winter
Sun cream: can be useful even on cloudy and winter days
Snacks: bring biscuits, energy bars, gels, bananas, chocolate or dried fruit for example and put them somewhere easy to get hold of
Lunch: bring a packed lunch unless otherwise stated
