Fear of Falling holding you back your progress on lead climbs?
Then this professionally coached session will develop your technique and confidence to fall - safely and also build your belaying skills, including how to hold a big fall.
Working with a professional instructor from the BigDepot, this 2 hour session has been specially organised for OutdoorLads to help you build your confidence in falling on lead climb routes - something that holds a lot of climbers back. It will also improve your belaying techniques, including a chance to try different belay devices and give you the skills for catching a fall on a lead route. The session will be tailored to the experience of the group - but you should be at least climbing Grade 6a on lead and be a confident belayer.
What will it cost? The cost of this event covers the professional coaching session, including the cost of entry to the climbing centre, so you're welcome to warm-up before hand as part of our usual Monday night climbing which is taking place alongside this event. Feel free to sign up to both.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to make sure you have completed the centres Registration and Disclaimer - this also counts for climbers who have already been to other DEPOT centres - you need to complete a new registration for BIG Depot Manchester if you've not been to this centre before, as it has different restrictions.
What to bring
Climbing Equipment: Harness, Shoes, chalk, Belay device & screw-gate karabiner (or assisted breaking device).
These are available to hire from the centre (at an extra cost) if you don't have your own.
If you're wanting to lead climb then please bring a 50m rope too - if you have one!
As always, please make sure your climbing equipment is in good condition and safe to climb with.
Although the BigDepot is new and much cleaner than some, as with all Climbing centres, it can be dusty due to the use of climber's chalk, so please remember to bring your inhaler/medication if you need one.
What to Wear: Make sure to wear something that allows you to move around freely, like shorts/joggers and a t-shirt. Jeans are not recommended. If you have any OutdoorLads branded clothing then please try and wear this as it will give the group a good level of visibility. Any jewellery such as rings, watches, chains etc. must be removed to help prevent injury.
What Facilities are there: The BigDepot has clean, spacious, changing facilities, complete with showers, for changing when you arrive - or before heading on to the AGM! There's also lockers, but you will need a padlock to secure and valuables.
Food & drink
The climbing centre has an excellent cafe area, with hot & cold drinks, a great selection of hot & cold snacks and home made cakes, for before we start the session.
