The Enchanted Forest Light Show

By day, Faskally Forest near Pitlochry is a beautiful array of mixed woodland with some very tall trees indeed. It has lochans and a network of paths to entice you into the forest's depths.

For about 4 weeks a year, as the sun gets low in the sky, and when we put the clocks back, the forest is transformed by a mesmerising and interactive light show that blows your mind, "How have they come up with that?" It's not just about lights, it's about how they (a) mesmerise and (b) with narration educate about the importance of life in our forests for just about every other form of life on the planet.

WHEN?

OutdoorLads will be going on Sunday 1st November, 5.30pm. We're likely to be inside the forest for up to two hours. Clocks go back before then, sunset will be 4.30, so properly dark by 5.30.

WHAT'S THE PLAN?

Most importantly, YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE YOUR OWN ENTRANCE TICKET

Signing up to the event page alone does not get you in. The ticket prices are about £40 but there are some concessions available.

Buy your ticket for Sunday 1st November, 17.30 slot. If this fills, you could buy for the slots either side and meet the rest of us inside.

The ticket includes coach travel from the centre of Pitlochry (close to the railway station) - you cannot gain access in your own vehicle. It includes the return of course.

WHAT ELSE MIGHT WE DO ON THE DAY?

Nearer the time, we'll see who's going and try to fix up a Sunday lunch for those who can get there early afternoon. Pitlochry is a lovely town with lots to see and do including local walks, shops, places to eat and drink.

If you're travelling by public transport, Pitlochry is well connected by rail and coach services with Ember, Citylink and Flixbus. Check engineering works that might affect Sunday and especially late Sunday trains.

This event is not suitable for dogs.
