Join OutdoorLads on the Pembrokeshire coastline as we return to one of our favourite locations the Stackpole Estate in wildly beautiful west Wales.
Surrounded by secluded, white sandy beaches such as the delightful Barafundle Bay and Freshwater West (the site of Dobby's grave in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1"); the teeming woods and nature reserve of Bosherston Lilyponds; mystical St. Govan's Chapel, perched on the cliffs above the pounding Atlantic; and the action packed Pembroke Peninsula (including iconic Tenby Harbour) - this is an OutdoorLads family holiday that will leave you wishing for more than just 3 nights!
There will be the usual options for walks over the long weekend - taking in some amazing locations such as Freshwater West and Barafundle Bay and we're also looking at options for Coasteering and Sea Kayaking.
What can you get up to this weekend? As well as the usual OutdoorLads hikes around the area, we're also arranging over the weekend:
Saturday: Sea Kayaking
Sunday: Coasteering
So join us and #GetOutMore in South Wales this Easter!
There is one 3-bed fully accessible room on the ground floor.
Itinerary
The following is all subject to change but should give you and idea of what to expect if this is your first OutdoorLads Hostel (Please check out this page as well if it is)
Friday
You'll be able to arrive at the site from around 4pm on the Friday, and find the bed you've reserved (more details on this closer to the time). Once settled in, there is plenty of room to relax in the lounge, with hot drinks available throughout the weekend. If your preference is for an alcoholic tipple you'll need to bring these yourself.
Friday evening will be jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings, but we're not completely forgetting the traditional OutdoorLads buffet. We'd like you to bring along something for desert or an offering for a cheese board to be set out during the evenings.
Once we've had a briefing over the plans for the weekend, we'll be looking for some volunteers to tidy up the kitchen , whilst the others can head back to relax in the lounge, or perhaps enjoy some board games (don't forget to bring your favourites) or even a game of pool or two (if we can find the cue's this time)
Saturday
After breakfast on Saturday morning you'll have a choice of activities
We've arranged with a local guide to run a session Sea Kayaking This sessions are at additional cost and you need to book separately. These will be in the morning, leaving the afternoon for you to chill out.
Alternatively, we'll be leading a local hike around the Pembrokeshire Coast exploring St Govan Head and then returning to our accommodation early afternoon. This means you will likely need a packed lunch that you will need to bring yourself.
OutdoorLads hostel events always rely on everyone mucking in and helping in the kitchen over the weekend and so whilst a few volunteers are busy in the kitchen, there will be plenty of time to relax and discuss plans for Sunday.
We'll serve up a wholesome and filling main course and something sweet as a treat for desert all include in the cost of the event, and once this is all cleared away the evening is yours to relax.
Sunday
This is another full day to enjoy the activities on offer in Pembrokeshire, with options today being coasteering. and we'll ensure there is a different walk available organised by one of our amazing volunteer leaders, or of course your welcome to do your own thing.
Breakfast will be provided to make sure you get a good start to the day, again you'll need to source your own lunch, but don't forget to leave room for a traditional Sunday Roast when you get back to the hostel.
Monday
Start the day with breakfast and as much coffee as needed to recover from the night before, and then we'll spend an hour or so tidying up the venue and leaving it as clean, or even cleaner than we found it before joining the bank holiday traffic to get home.

What to bring
HOSTEL LIST
Bedding: Duvet and Pillow are provided but please bring your own single fitted sheet, pillow case and duvet cover, or a sleeping bag. You may also want to bring your own pillow as that is always nicer!
Wine Glass: If you enjoy a glass of wine you might be disappointed to find none in the hostel.
Saturday & Sunday Packed Lunch: You may end up hungry on a walk without one!
Medicines: if you have hay fever, diabetes, minor ailments etc.
Change of Clothes: You probably don't want to spend all weekend in your hiking socks.
Pyjamas: Even if you prefer to sleep naked, remember you will be sharing a room and the bathrooms are not ensuite, you'll need to be able to get to and from these.
Towel & Wash-kit: I'm hoping you will be using the shower at least once over the weekend.
Slippers: Its nice to have something to wear around the hostel
Board/Card Games: Completely optional but we may not have your favourite (unless its UNO)
DAY ACTIVTIES - WALKING
Day rucksack: typically 20-30 litres, they are comfortable to wear and allow you to use your arms freely
Boots: waterproof and breathable and designed for hiking, if your taking the more gentle activities you may get away with trainers.
Gaiters: recommended for wet weather or boggy conditions
Socks: proper walking socks will keep your feet dry and help prevent blisters
Layered clothing: lets you quickly adapt to changes in the weather and body temperature. Go for a base layer (vest or t-shirt) and a mid layer (a micro fleece or shirt) and in cooler weather add an outer layer (a windproof jacket or thick fleece)
Trousers: ideally no jeans as they become heavy and cold in the rain, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry and on warm days shorts are OK
Waterproof jacket: essential when hiking in all but the calmest of weather, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry
Gloves: Windproof, or better still, waterproof gloves are the best choice, bring a spare pair if expecting rain
Hat or cap: stay warm in winter and shaded in summer
Sunglasses: for any sunny day, even in winter
Sun cream: can be useful even on cloudy and winter days
Snacks: bring biscuits, energy bars, gels, bananas, chocolate or dried fruit for example and put them somewhere easy to get hold of
DAY ACTIVTIES - WATER BASED
Safety gear and all equipment required will be provided by our third-party supplier and we'll provide a full kit list for these activities on the separate sign up page once available, but you will probably need a change of clothes and an old pair of trainers that you don't mind getting wet (or water shoes!)
Food & drink
Tea, coffee and squash are included in the event cost and will be available throughout the weekend. You'll need to supply your own alcoholic drinks and there will be very limited fridge space available.
The event cost also includes breakfast and evenings meals but you do need to supply your own lunch on both Saturday and Sunday.
Please note that there are NO shops in the area!! There is a small Spar at a petrol station in Lamphey, small Morrison's Daily, Co-op and a Londis In Pembroke; the closest "large" stores (Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and Asda) are in Pembroke Dock, which is a 30 minute drive from the hostel.
