Please note that this event has been curated by the amazing Simon Parr (Sim72) who lives in Oxford and is an aspiring social leader. He will be shadowing me at this event and I will be relying on his knowledge of the city, the event and which pubs to visit 🍺
Overview:
On Sunday, August 16th, the majestic surroundings of Broad Street will be transformed into the Dine ‘n Devour Artisan Food Festival. The event promises delicious streetfood, drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and music and entertainment. Entry into the event is free.
A Bit About The Event:
Dine ‘n Devour Food Festivals are run throughout the UK and aim to revitalise town centres by increasing footfall, supporting independent businesses and creating a vibrant, community-led atmosphere. In other words, by attending this event you will be doing your bit for a good cause. You can find out more about their events by looking at Dine ‘n Devour.
From 2pm to 3pm, there will be an option to visit the grounds of Balliol, one of Oxford University’s oldest colleges. Founded in 1263 it has educated four Prime Ministers, thirteen Nobel Prize winners and Empress Masako of Japan! Entry will cost three pounds.
In the event of Balliol being closed to visitors for an event, which I have been told is very unlikely, Trinity College is close by which costs seven pounds to be paid in cash. [Don’t ask me why, Oxford is a funny old place.]
To round off the afternoon, we have a table booked from 3pm to 5pm at The King’s Arms, a historic pub close-by that is popular with students, locals and tourists alike. It offers a wide range of drinks and food in a uniquely Oxford atmosphere. Founded in 1607 in the reign of James I, the proto-ODLer, it claims to have the highest IQ per square foot in the UK.
