Join us for a day's Trad Single-Pitch Climbing at Crookrise, in North West Yorkshire.

Rock type is gritstone and there are routes across the grades available, so it is suitable for all abilities. There are also some bouldering routes there if anyone would like to bring a mat. The aspect is west facing, so we will (hopefully!) be in the sun from midday onwards. The approach is only a short walk from where we will park.

To attend this event you will need to have attended an indoor climbing event with OutdoorLads, be competent at tying-in with a figure of 8 knot, and lead-belaying a climbing partner. If you are unsure about the difficulty of the event, or whether you have necessary skills & experience, please message the event leader with your questions.

As usual, places for seconder climbers may be dependent on the number of lead climbers available, and will be on a first-come first-served basis.

We will meet at 10.45 and go over arrangements for the day, then walk up to the crag at 11am, so please be on time.

Please bring some coins in case the parking is charged; it's my first time here so I am not sure.

You may also wish to keep up to date with all outdoorlads outdoor climbing events here, or through our facebook group to be notified about new outdoor climbing events as they go online and to keep in touch with other outdoor climbers in ODL.

Participation statement:

As a BMC Affiliate member, Outdoorlads draws your attention to the fact that climbing is an activity with a danger of personal injury or death. You should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for your own actions and involvement.

Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur climbers with some experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge.  Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.

Members should also understand that rock climbing is weather dependent – more so than some other outdoor activities (not least as it can be dangerous to climb on wet rock). Whilst we will do everything reasonably possible to run the event as described, the event leader may need to change the location and/or other event details to best suit the anticipated weather. We will advise members booked on, or interested, in the event of this as soon as is practical, but you should understood that in certain circumstances it may be necessary to move the event to an indoor climbing centre, or cancel the event all together.
