Terrain: This 7 mile walk involves only three steep (but short and well-spaced) climbs and is reasonably level elsewhere. Mud should only be present after heavy or prolonged rain.

We finish our three days of coastal exploration north with this easier walk and is it to a ruined Abbey. Starting at the beautiful Yorkshire coast fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay, which is nestled on the seafront, we follow part of the Cleveland Way to the coast and then along the clifftops all the way to Whitby.

Here, the coastal scenery is rugged, but without too many ups and downs and there are many points of interest along the way. We pause at St Hilda's Abbey (English Heritage) for further exploration and lunch. Then continue into Whitby for further refreshment and a short bus ride back to our cars.

This is just one of the three delightfully scenic walks planned in this area during the bank holiday weekend.

Accommodation
Twelve of us will be staying at YHA Scarborough 24th-27th August and we will be cooking and socialising together in the self-catering area. With it being a Bank Holiday, spaces have been selling out fast at the hostel and there were only 4 beds left in male dorms last time I checked. If you do manage to book a place, please contact the leader so we can possibly arrange some food together. NOTE: This is not an exclusive ODL hostel so we will be sharing the hostel with other members of the public.
