9.5 miles, a few steep hills

A 9.5 mile loop around Dartmouth taking in two short boat trips

This circular walk starts up the River Dart in Dittisham. We’ll then head across the pretty countryside into Dartmouth for lunch, before getting the ferry across the river and following the railway back up the estuary through the woods. We’ll then take another short boat ride back to Dittisham.

It was a pretty grey and rainy day when I recce’d it so hopefully we’ll have better luck. Dartmouth itself is really nice with lots of galleries and shops so we should have some time to have lunch there and a look about. There’s a few steep hills on the walk and plenty of styles to cross initially.

The ferry from Dartmouth to Kingswear is £1.50 (although I somehow managed to do it for free) and the upper ferry back to Dittisham is £2. Both take just a couple of minutes. Card payment only currently.

Dogs
Please bring your four-legged friend! But be aware there's a few styles and your pooch will need to be put on a lead as we go through a farm and a few sheep fields. Dogs are 50p on the ferries
