This is one of the events organised as part of Big Spring Camp 2026.
Starting at Nant Peris, the walk follows the south-west edge of Llyn Peris to our first stop, Dolbadarn Castle, a 13th-century fortress. From there, we continue to the spectacular Ceunant Mawr Falls and then we'll head into Llanberis, where you can pick up a few bits, before enjoying an early picnic lunch by the shores of Llyn Padarn. We then follow the scenic, oak-fringed Lôn Las Peris, passing water lily ponds, and head on to the westernmost tip of the lakes at Pont Penllyn.
Then we begin a steady climb up country lanes on the north side of the lakes towards Dinorwig, where excellent views open out across the wider mountainous landscape. From here it's onwards to the Dinorwig Slate Quarry on the slopes of Elidir Fawr, taking in the striking Sinc California and Vivian Quarry. We will then carefully descend via the zig-zag slate paths towards the Vaynol Arms Pub for a well-deserved pint.
The walk is moderate, undulating with a few small climbs - this is Wales 🏴 - totalling about 450 m. The walk is approximately 19 km in length.
