This is one of the events organised as part of BIG Spring Camp 2026.
This isn't your average day out—this is a private, OutdoorLads-exclusive underground odyssey. Imagine mine exploration dialed up to eleven: ziplines, bridges, and via ferrata, all set within the heart of our industrial heritage.
The Ultimate Xtreme™ route runs long and deep beneath the mountains of North Wales. Your journey includes:
- 9 underground zip lines, including the world’s longest (130m) and the world's deepest.
- Massive depth: You’ll be navigating tunnels and caverns more than 1,300 feet down. To put that in perspective, the rock roof above you is 1,230 feet thick—the deepest accessible point in Great Britain.
- High-octane obstacles: Tackle high traverses, via ferrata, and ancient bridges.
Duration: 7 hours
Suitability, Weight & Fitness
This seven-hour route is demanding. You don’t need prior experience, but expect to be on the move all day. You’ll be climbing, scrambling, and navigating obstacles that will push your limits. The vertical drops are frequent and will test your nerve, even if you’re usually comfortable with heights.
The Essentials:
- Weight: There is no overall weight limit; however, the "Free Fall" section has a maximum capacity of 19 stone. If you exceed this, you can simply take an alternative path for that segment.
- Safety: All participants must be able to fit securely into a standard safety harness.
- Fitness: You are the best judge of your own physical level. If you’re up for a full day of scrambling, walking, and swinging on ropes, you’re ready for this.
Certain medical conditions may unfortunately impact your trip. So, if you have any of the following please contact us (or Go Below directly) before booking and you may still be able to be accommodated: Epilepsy, vertigo, mobility issues, issues holding your own weight on arms or legs, amputations or limb function disabilities, deafness or sight impediment and heart problems. They are experienced in offering inclusive trips, so please don't automatically rule yourself out if you have any of the above.

What to bring
Footwear
Wear stout walking boots or trainers for the 30-minute hike to the mine entrance. Once there, Go Below provides wellies (sizes 1–12). For the best fit, wear thick socks.
Clothing
The mine is a constant 10°C, so dress like you’re going hill walking:
- Torso: Layers topped with a warm fleece, jumper, or coat.
- Legs: Technical outdoor trousers, leggings, or tracksuits. No jeans or shorts.
- Outerwear: Waterproof jacket and over-trousers (essential for damp mine conditions and the outdoor walk).
- Hands: Close-fitting gloves are required (gardening style is fine). These are also sold on-site for £3.
Personal Essentials
- Small Backpack: Everything you bring must fit inside so your hands remain free.
- Food & Drink: Bring enough lunch, water and snacks for a 7-hour trip.
- Dry Kit: Leave a full change of clothes and shoes in the car for the journey home.
- Medical: Carry any personal medication or inhalers.
Provided Equipment
Go Below provides wellies and all technical safety gear, including your helmet, head torch, and harness.
Food & drink
You will need to bring you own food and drink with you, there will be opportunities in the trip to have a snack or packed lunch. Anything you do bring needs to fit into a small backpack as you'll need to keep your hands free. Please don't bring too much as it will weigh you down and also please be aware that we do not take responsibility for any loss or damage of personal items.
