BSC26: The BIG Sunday Soak! (Sun)

This is one of the events organised as part of Big Spring Camp 2026.
What is The BIG Sunday Soak?
Think of it as a high-octane aquatic obstacle course! This is a fast-paced, water-drenched gauntlet involving an extra-wide slip-and-slide, rubber ducks, and a generous helping of Fairy Liquid. It’s a series of wet-and-wild challenges designed to test your speed, your balance, and your ability to stay upright while sprinting in a water-logged t-shirt.
What to expect?
From 3:00pm on Sunday, we’ll kick off with The Duck Lottery. You’ll launch yourself down the slide into a paddling pool to grab a rubber duck - the colour on its belly determines your team for the hour. Once the teams are set, we move straight into a series of frantic relays:
- The Overhead Leak: Passing water backwards over your head in a blind relay line.
- The Big Squeeze: A heavy-weight sprint wearing water-soaked oversized shirts that you must wring out to fill your team's bucket.
- The Duck Dash: A final side-by-side racing relay to reclaim your team's specific ducks from the splash pool.
We’ll keep the suds flowing and the energy high until the final whistle at 4:00pm, followed by a legendary group photo of the survivors.
Do I need previous experience?
None at all! If you can slide on your stomach and don't mind getting wet, you're ready to go. The focus is entirely on having a laugh and getting moving in the BSC spirit. Our "Soap Keeper" and Ref, Emrys, will be on hand to keep the track lubricated, track the team volumes, and ensure everyone plays safe.
Can I come along and just watch?
Spectators are more than welcome! We need a "Boundary Crew" to cheer on the sliders and help retrieve any ducks that fly off-course. However, if you just want to watch and stay dry, please don't sign up for this event page so we can keep an accurate head-count for the team equipment.
What should I bring?
Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet and soapy - swimwear or old gym gear is perfect. A towel is essential for afterwards, and goggles are a pro-tip if you want to keep the bubbles out of your eyes during the face-first slides!
Who’s running the session?
Emrys will be your Ref and "Official Soap Keeper" for the hour. I’ll be the one with the whistle and the Fairy Liquid, making sure the slide stays fast, the teams stay competitive, and everyone finishes the weekend with a BIG splash!

What to bring
- Swimwear or Old Gym Gear: You will be getting very wet, very soapy, and potentially grass-stained, so wear something you don't mind putting through the wringer.
- A Towel: Essential for the walk back to the showers once the final whistle blows.
- Goggles (Pro-Tip): Highly recommended if you plan on going face-first down the slide; they’ll keep the Fairy Liquid out of your eyes.
- Footwear: It's best to be barefoot for the slide itself, but having flip-flops or old trainers for the grass relay sections is a good idea.
Food & drink
Please bring a bottle of water with you as we will be outdoors, so staying hydrated is key. Given it's a Bank Holiday in the UK, there is a theoretical, scientifically unproven possibility that the sun might actually make an appearance - so come prepared!
