Branscombe Devon 2026 -Summer Camp and Beach

One of the very popular summertime camping events we return to every year. This is a great little campsite with sea views and a shortish walk to the beach. We can have a BBQ and campfires and can walk to a lovely village pub as an option.
On Saturday we will be walking the coastal path to Sidmouth. Enroute we will stop on a secluded beach for a leisurely lunch . In Sidmouth we can have a wander for an ice cream or beer ;)
There will also be something organised for Sunday morning depending on demand and the weather.
The campsite whilst basic has everything we need to have a great time, there are showers and toilets with sinks in the cubicle as well as dish washing facilities.
Dogs: Well behaved dogs are allowed on site when kept on a lead and upon payment of £3 per dog per night directly to the site on arrival.
Motorhomes, Campervans, Caravans: Small campervans (i.e. VW Transporter) are welcome at no additional cost, with no EHU and likely on a grass pitch.
Campfires & BBQs: This event will include a campfire/BBQ at the site. Whilst our event leaders will take safety precautions there is still a risk to members. Please consider your behaviour around the campfire for your own and others safety.
Saturday walk: This is from the campsite to Sidmouth. It is approximately 40 minutes walk to Branscombe beach where there is a cafe and small shop where you can get some supplies for the walk if you need to. From there we set off for Sidmouth. There are no shops or treated water until we reach Sidmouth. We will stop for lunch and a rest on Weston mouth beach midway between Branscombe and Sidmouth. Note, the beach is popular with naturists. It is approximately 2 hours walk from Branscombe beach to Weston mouth beach and a further 2 hours walk from Weston mouth beach to Sidmouth.
The walk is along the coast path that follows the sea cliffs. There are significant climbs and descents as we walk down into and out of the valleys that reach the coast. Some will find these challenging particularly in hot weather. Whilst you can take your time , a certain level of fitness is required. Other options will be available if you feel this may not be for you. There is also the option to drive to near to Weston Mouth beach and meet at the half way beach.
It can often be hot and the walk is somewhat exposed so please bring plenty of water (if you are unsure of quantity please ask the leader for advice) and sun protection (cream /hat etc).
It may be useful to bring light shoes to walk on the pebbles as they are hard under foot. The waves can be powerful as the beach drops into the sea steeply , please be aware of this!
Underfoot it is a typical coastal path with varying terrain , walking boots are recommended.
Evenings / Nigh time : There are various evening options and this will be weather dependent. We will aim to have a camp fire, where there will be music and talking, that may go on reasonably late. Whilst this will be kept to a minimum after midnight , noise does travel in an open field. If this is likely to disturb you please consider the fire pit location in relation to where you pitch your tent. Please be aware that we may be sharing the camp field with other groups that may be noisy and we will have little control over this. It is always advisable to have some good earplugs should this be likely to disturb you.
