Join Outdoor Lads on an epic traverse of Wale's highest mountain via the stunning South Ridge
_________________________________________________________
This is the second day of a pair of mountain walks in the Beddgelert area of Eryri. If you just want to come for this walk, that's no problem; though if you'd like to make a weekend of it, join us for part one on Moel Hebog
If you do want to make a weekend of it, there are several campsites nearby, including Beddgelert Camp Site, Cau Du Campsite and the Cwellyn Arms Campsite, which also has a bunkhouse and private rooms. For those wanting more glamorous lodgings, there are plenty of nice hotels and B&Bs in Beddgelert and nearby towns and villages such as Caernarfon, Porthmadog and Portmeirion.
I'll set up a Telegram group for both events nearer the time to arrange car sharing and a possible meal on the Saturday evening.

Points of interest on the route:
The Bwlch Cwm Llan Quarries: As we make our way to the ridge, we'll travel through some of the old slate quarries, giving interesting insights into North Wales's industrial heritage
The South Ridge: This is the most thrilling part of the walk, with great views down to Cwm Clogwyn and Tregalan. These beautiful glacial valleys drop down steeply from both sides of the ridge, so we'll make sure to take our time during this section of the walk.
Yr Wyddfa's Summit: Snowdon, or Yr Wyddfa, is Wales's highest peak, reaching 1085m. While the summit will no doubt be busy with fellow hikers; should the weather be clear, we'll have stunning views over the National Park and beyond. As there is a café on the summit, we'll stay here for our lunch break, before descending via the Snowdon Ranger Path.
The Welsh Highland Railway: As we cut off the Ranger path to head back to Rhyd Ddu, we'll cross the tracks of the Welsh Highland Railway. This heritage line runs regularly from Porthmadog to Caernarfon, and if we're lucky, we'll see it as we cross.
Other Infomation:
Dog Suitability:
Dogs are always welcome on my walks, though their behaviour and safety is their owner's responsibility. This includes cleaning up after them, controlling their behaviour around other animals or people, and assisting them over any stiles or streams we may cross.
