This is a special treat to enjoy drinks and a picnic in the stunning gardens of Hampton Court Palace followed by an outside concert with ABBA’s famous tribute act – Björn Again!

Our evening starts with drinks and picnic dinner in the classy surroundings of Hampton Court Palace’s East Front Gardens. You are welcome to bring your own table and chairs or blanket to sit on as there are limited seats available. There are a range of different street food vendors offering a wide variety of food to purchase, or you can bring your own. There are also a range of festival bars, or you can bring your own drinks. The venue is spectacular and presents plenty of photo opportunities including herbaceous borders, fountains, and rows of architectural trees. There will also be live music from up-and-coming acts on the Garden stage to help set the atmosphere.

After dinner we walk through part of the palace to reach the historic Tudor Courtyard where the concert starts at 9pm. The location is very atmospheric – we shall be surrounded by beautiful Baroque and Tudor architecture and as dusk falls the chimneys, bricks and little paned windows are lit up with colourful lighting. You also get to see (and hear) some low flying aircraft going to land at Heathrow although this somehow adds, rather than distracts, from the whole experience. The concert is outdoors, and no umbrellas are permitted so bring waterproofs just in case!

Hampton Court Palace is a Grade I listed royal palace in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and is said to have been King Henry VIII’s favourite residence. Our concert is part of a series running over a couple of weeks in June, and the annual event has been going for almost 30 years.

Björn Again are an ABBA-based musical tribute act from Australia. Their name references ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus and since debuting in 1989, they have performed around 5,500 shows in 72 countries. There are apparently different band members in different geographies, and all use a mix of English and Swedish language known as ‘Swenglish’ or pidgin Swedish. It is a fun, critically acclaimed and light-hearted show for anyone who loves ABBA’s music.

How can I get a ticket and where should I book my seat?

The concert is in a seated auditorium and all tickets are allocated seats. We shall be in Block A - Section A where the seats cost £64 (at the time of writing available ticket prices range from £53 to £485!). Please see ‘Location’ section (only accessible to ODL members) for details of precisely where in the auditorium to book your ticket and do so as soon as you register for the event to avoid disappointment. This is a popular concert, and tickets are likely to sell out. More information on the venue and how to book is at Hampton Court Palace Festival | Tickets
