Yalding and the River Medway, Kent

Yalding appears in the news sometimes as it is where two other rivers join the River Medway and in times of flooding, Yalding gets it badly. However, the very long mediaeval bridge, 600 years old, has stood up to this many times and is still there and we shall walk over it as we pass through the village itself before heading uphill.
The reason for this walk is that it starts with a good yomp across open and then rising countryside, through fields and orchards with glimpses of the rivers below. Eventually we descend to the River Medway where we shall have a long walk beside it, past many pleasure boats and people simply 'messing about on the river'.
When we get back to near Yalding again, we may choose to head for 'teapot island' which, apart from an exhibition of vast numbers of said teapots, also has a licensed cafe right by the river.
