Stackpole Southwest Wales B.H. Camping Long Weekend

Come join us for a 'back to basics' camp in one of Pembrokeshire's most hidden corners - the Stackpole Country Estate, between iconic Tenby and castellated Pembroke.
We will be in a field near to the village pub in Bosherston. Next to us is the National Trust-owned Bosherston Lilyponds lead down to the wild dunes of Stackpole Warren, and the wild breakers of legendary Barafundle Bay - a favourite with surfers, walkers and remote beach-seekers, but with no road conection so even on the bank holiday there’ll be plenty of space.
The campsite is very basic - a field with just a portaloo and water tap’ which we’ll be sharing with the other campers.
We will be exploring the Stackpole Estate and walking along the cliff tops and beaches and finding bays with opportunities to go for a swim. Maybe one night we’ll find our own small inlet, in which to build a cosy discreet driftwood fire. There may be the possibility of renting kayaks or going coasteering.
It is likely that you will be able to pay the farmer to stay for extra nights.
The area has its own rapidly changing micro-climate, we could be lucky enough to witness impressive Atlantic storms and be sunbathing on the fine sand beaches; so bring a good tent with long pegs, your waterproofs, sun hat and sunscreen. Whatever the weather, coastal walks will be available.
What to bring
Other than a pub and tea rooms, there are no shops in Bosherston, so you will need to bring everything you need with you. There are good shopping facilities in Pembroke, a 20 minute drive from the campsite.
Please review the Outdoorlads kit lists for a general guide. In case it’s stormy, it’s best to have a robust medium size tent with long pegs.
If you are going to be cooking, bring cooking eqipment.
If you are going to be participating in the coastal walks, bring daywalk equipment; walking boots are best, if you bring walking shoes, they need to have a fairly aggressive tread pattern and you will most likely end up with wet feet. You will need waterproofs, a rucksack, packed lunch, water, warm clothes and sunhat/sunscreen.
Food & drink
This is not a catered event, so please bring food and drink to cover all your needs from Friday afternoon until your departure on Monday. It will be possible to get some meals from the nearby pub and tea rooms - http://www.stgovanscountryinn.webeden.co.uk/
