Portland Basin to Dovestones Reservoirs and back - lunch in between!

Come along for a leisurely ride along the Peak Forest Canal towpath.
Starting from the Portland Basin Boat Museum in Ashton-Under-Lyne, we'll ride west through Stalybridge, Mossley and Grasscroft and on up to Dovestones reservoirs.
Once there we'll stop for a cuppa before circling the reservoirs and having lunch.
The reservoirs mark the half way point of the ride and as we head back we'll stop en route at either the Royal George or Roaches Lock pub for a well earned pint before returning to Portland Basin.
Suitable for both hybrid and mountain bikes, the ride is none technical running almost entirely along the length of the canal towpath. The total distance is circa 40 km for the return journey.
Food & drink
We'll lunch at the reservoirs so bring a packed lunch along. There is a snack van at the Reservoir head which serves hot and cold food if you'd prefer. Depending on the weather the ice cream van may be there too.
Don't forget however to bring snacks and drinks for the ride itself.
