The walk starts along the Sett Valley trail from New Mills towards Hayfield. We return across the moors and visit the Torrs Riverside Park which lies below the town of New Mills in the Torrs Gorge. The Torrs Gorge is the point where the rivers Sett and Goyt join. Bridges and railway viaducts tower over the park which is full of industrial history, evident by mill ruins, weirs and cobbled tracks. The gorge is also home to the Millenium Walkway and a community funded hydroelectric power plant.
Walk highlights include:
- Sett Valley Trail
- Hayfield village
- Peak Forrest Canal
- New Mills Millenium Walkway
- Torrs Riverside Park
