Join Dan (and Stephen) on a 9 mile walk starting in the small village of Hornby in North Lancashire.
The village of Hornby is nestled in the picturesque Lune Valley where the River Wenning joins the River Lune.  We will be walking close to both rivers for a section of the walk, offering great views and opportunities to spot a variety of fauna and flora.
Highlights of the walk will be -
• Starting and finishing close to the spectacular Hornby Castle,  which was originally built between 1849 and 1852.
• After our meander along the banks of the Lune, we will pass through the delightful village of Melling, past the stunning Grade 1 listed building of St Wilfrid’s Church.
• As we make our ascent up the fells through quiet pastures, we will enjoy stunning views across to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, passing by Cockshotts Wood en-route.
• On our descent we will pass the remains of the 12th Century motte and bailey style Castle Stede that sits overlooking the Loyn Bridge.
• Then back into Hornby passing St Margaret’s Church, whose tower was built in 1514.
• At the end of the walk, we will make the short drive to the Fenwick Arms, (http://seafoodpubcompany.com/venue-promotions/the-fenwick-claughton/) which was once featured in Gordon Ramsay’s ‘Kitchen Nightmares’, for a welcome refreshment
