Norfolk is largely untapped for ODL and has some quite stunning scenery combined with its dramatic and very scenic coastline with plenty of widlife and history along the route. Those of you who know me (some chuckle) know that I do add views into my walks but yes they don't come free, a good couple of hills will reward you with stunning views across Sheringham Park & at the end of the walk at Beeston Bump where the walk concludes.
Various points of interest do feature along the route such as;
- North Norfolk Coastline
- North Norfolk Railway (Will stop at Weybourne Station)
- Kelling Hard (Should be able to spot some World War Battlements)
- Sheringham Beach/Waterfrontage
So do encourge you to come and join us on a lovely walk, perhaps if you don't usually visit Norfolk (or never been) this is your ideal opportunity to make a weekend of it with ODL so any questions you have do message either myself or Neil.
What to bring
This is a summer walk and whilst most of the paths are gravel/drit/sandy natured still do keep an eye on the weather as even after heavy rainful solid walking shoes/boots are needed.
The last part of the walk will be along the Peddar's Way & North Norfolk Coast Path but will walk along the sandy part of the beach near to Sherringham so do bring a pair of sandals or bare-foot if you prefer - watch out for any sea creatures tho!
Last couple of items would be good and essential items is a small hand towel, sunscreen protection, shades/sunnies and perhaps a cap/hat too.
Food & drink
Please bring a packed lunch along with you to have on the walk. As it is a late morning start to the walk we shall aim to have lunch at around 13:00 - 13:30 around Weybourne Station/ Kelling Heath area.
Please do ensure as one would hope for good weather temperatures can be rather warm (yes it does happen) so do ensure you have ample water/liquids to consume en-route.
