A great day walk, starting at Curbar Gap, North over White Edge to a height of 365m and down to the Longshaw Estate and to the Grouse Inn for lunch. Then along the top of Froggatt Edge, a great favourite with rock climbers which has great view over the Derwent Valley and back via Curbar Edge to Curbar Gap.
What to bring
Wear the usual kit for a summer walk. Lightweight walking pants or shorts and walking boots with thick socks. A windproof or waterproof jacket would be a good idea and a small rucsac for your food and packed lunch. Sun cream might be advisable.
Also bring cash for the car parking and beer and if you are a member of the National Trust bring your membership card to get free parking at Curbar Gap.
Phones, cameras and maps can be useful to. Maybe you want to learn to map read and navigate on our walk, so you can become a walk leader in ODL.
Food & drink
Best to bring a packed lunch and something to drink. We will eat our packed lunches before getting to the Grouse Inn.
We will stop for a pint at the pub, but probably wont have time to wait for meals being served, as service can be quite slow, when the pub is busy.
