Join FlapjackJohn, Outdoorlad's resident booze expert/enthusiast on a tour of one of Manchester's many new wave microbreweries.
Go behind the scenes at the Runaway Brewery and find out how they make their beer – from grain to glass. A brewer will take you on a tour of the working brewery and guide you through a tasting of four beers.
Their beer is modern in style, internationally influenced but recognisably British. They brew by hand in small batches at their microbrewery in central Manchester. Flavour and quality come first and they always use the best ingredients available.
They brew a core range of IPA, Pale Ale, American Brown Ale and Smoked Porter, plus seasonal specials to try out new ideas and collaberations with other local brewers.
After the tour, if people feel like it, we may head to a pub after to sample some more of Manchester's famous ales (or Gins!)
The price of the tour will be £12, including a tasting of 4 of their beers. Please bring this with you, in cash, as we will need to pay on the door.
What to bring
This is a working brewery, so sensible footwear will be needed with good grip (ie, no sandles or open shoes). Walking shoes/trainers you don't mind potentially getting a bit wet or dirty are recommended.
The brewery is also keept at a cool temperature to maintain the health of the beer, so you will probably need to wrap up warm for the duration of the event. Manchester is not particuarly famed for its January heatwaves!
