This is an easy 6 mile walk around the estate park at Chillingham, Northumberland.
The Grade II listed park has been home for 700 years to the unique herd of 60 Chillingham Wild Cattle whose ancestors, according to Lady Tankerville, once roamed the great forest which extended from the North Sea coast to the Clyde Estuary. We will find spectacular views over the parkland and beyond to the Cheviots as well as a chance to see the wild cattle from safe viewpoints - assuing visibility is good!
Make a weekend of it by finding accommodation in Wooler and joining the Saturday walk too, to Linhope Spout and Hedgehope Hill.
What to bring
This is mid-winter. Bring plenty of layers and full waterproofs.walk
Food & drink
Bring snacks and a hot drink. We aim to go to the historic Percy Arms in nearby Chatton for a pub lunch at the end of the walk.
