Castle Combe is a quintessentially English village often named as the ‘prettiest village in England. It has featured regularly as a film location, most recently in The Wolf Man, Stardust and Stephen Spielberg’s War Horse. It was also used in the original Dr Doolittle film. The village has a rich history and the houses are made up of the honey coloured Cotswold stone, typical for a village of this area. This circular walk follows part of the MacMillan Way towards the village of Ford before returning via woodland and water meadows. There will be plenty of time to explore the village itself at the end or perhaps enjoy a drink at the Castle Inn. Later in the day there is a social event in Bath including a Fireworks Display http://www.outdoorlads.com/event/bath-fireworks-social so why not make a day of it.
